How we find it
- County permit drawing (free or nearly free — ask first)
- Following the main drain line from the house with a probe or camera
- Electronic locator flushed through the system where needed
Risers. A riser brings the tank lid to grade so future pump-outs, inspections and filter cleanings don't involve a shovel. Cost $200–$400, installed during a pump-out. It pays for itself in two visits and it's the first thing a septic inspector notices.
Two local patterns make locating a common first call here. On the older mainland streets, systems installed in the 1960s and 70s predate any paperwork the current owner has, and sand shifts and settles enough that surface clues disappear. In the big platted subdivisions — Sebastian Highlands, Vero Lake Estates and the like — lots are narrow enough that the tank, the field and the well all have to fit, so guessing with a probe risks hitting something expensive. A riser at $200–$400, fitted during a pump-out, ends the problem permanently, and it is the first thing a septic inspector notices.
Lid replacement. Cracked concrete or corroded steel lids are a safety hazard — falls into septic tanks happen. We replace them at the same visit.
